Inspirations are all around us if we can keep our eyes and mind open. But to have an open mind are being able to get inspired may not be that simple. We are not machines and our hearts and minds are complex. When inspired, we can do great things. Writers can thread words into beautiful literatures. Musicians can string together notes that fills hearts with harmony. World leaders can do great things for the people they govern, bringing peace and stability throughout the world. Finding your inspiration in order to accomplish great things has benefits to not just yourself, but also to those around you.
Sometimes I find myself in a rut and completely uninspired to do anything. I feel demotivated and have a sense that whatever I do, it has little meaning. It is a difficult place to be in, but I think it is normal and natural. Everyone goes through this at some point in their lives. Actually, normal people will go through this at many points in their lives. It is nothing to be ashamed of nor even to fear admitting. The trick is how to get ourselves out of this mode.
The ability in finding your inspiration is unique. Different people have different ways they encounter inspiration. The way I find my inspiration may very much likely be very different from how you find your inspiration. Not only that, how I find my inspiration today may be entirely different from how I find my inspiration tomorrow. It doesn’t have to be the same each time. In fact, it will not be the same each time. Expect inspiration to come randomly at different time, place and source. Just be ready for it when it arrives.
Though inspirations are sourced from different location and time, it is something we can setup to happen more often. If we can put ourselves more into situations where inspiration happens for us, we find our inspiration to do more great things more often. Here are some tips on how you can put yourself into situations where you can be inspired more often.
- Have a mentor – I’m very fortunate. Not everyone has a mentor that helps them and inspires them. I’m fortunate enough to have two mentors. I have one official mentor who’ve helped me grown as a leader and has guided my career. She’s been a wonderful influence in my professional and personal life. My other mentor happens to by my own father. He’s accomplished great things in his life and he’s definitely a source of inspiration for me. I can always at a moment’s notice reach out to my two mentors for inspiration and advice. Find yourself a mentor that can help you and inspire you. In times of need, they are there to motivate you and guide you to your inspiration. Sometimes, they can be your inspiration.
- Be around great people – I find that when I need inspiration, surrounding myself with good people who are intelligent and successful always helps. They inspire me to be better and to do more. Even when I don’t seek inspiration, just being around great people the inspiration comes naturally. Surround yourself with great people and see how inspiration can just come pouring into your life.
- Meditate – A great challenge to me is the ability to meditate. I struggle with meditation because my mind is always distracted with so much things revolving in my life. I can never be at peace to meditate and achieve inspiration. However, my inability to do so should not prevent you from trying it. Many people use meditation to find inspiration. It may work for you. There are many techniques you can use to help you meditate and it is something worth trying if you find yourself needing sudden inspiration.
- Research and read – I spend a lot of time reading and researching. In today’s world, information is just at our finger tips. We have easy access to the internet and a wealth of data shared by all sorts of people across the world. Put it to good use and spend your time online wisely. When you need inspiration, do some online research. Read the information that’s available. In addition, I also find reading books as a great way to get inspired. Do your research and read. Read a lot and inspiration will come to you.
There will be time in your life when you find yourself stuck in a rut. Don’t be too alarmed when this happens. It’s ok and very understandable. What you need to do is to quickly get yourself out of that rut. You must have ways to find your inspiration and get yourself up. If you don’t already have techniques you use to get yourself out of the rut you’re in, try these tips. And if these don’t work for you, do research for other tips and techniques to help you find your inspiration.
